Bringing Mackie Home

We brought Mackenzie home from the hospital on Wednesday December 5th, after a much shorter stay (2 days) at Marin General than with Cameron (4 days).  The first few days at home we spent some quality time with our newly formed foursome. We’re so happy and very thankful for this healthy family. Our latest addition is pleasant as can be – the “chipmunk” we call her. She literally squeals like a chipmunk. We shortened it to “chipp-ers” and even Cameron is catching on, she hears her cry and says: “oh chiiiii-pers.” But, this kid barely cries, sleeps all the time, sometimes for 4-5 hours at a stretch (first week), and eats like a linebacker. She is very different than Cameron, starting with her dark black hair and ending with the fact that she does not cry uncontrollably for every waking hour of the day! We’re crossing our fingers, but so far we are loving the gentle and quiet Mackie which balances out nicely with “Hurricane” Cameron. Seeing this new little package has made us realize just how much Cameron has grown and how big, bright and independent she is getting. Cami has been a great big sister – “I love you baby Mackie” –  and overall she was a little needy the first few days, but she is so independent that now she really doesn’t pay much attention to the new baby. She is more concerned with playing – she loves sitting and “reading” books, and running around back and forth pushing her baby stroller – and watching “Bubble Guppies” and anything else she can get her eyes on. She’s been spoiled with TV this first week, especially with all the Christmas specials…Rudolph, Frosty and her favorite the Bubble Guppies Holiday special.  Her new favorite word is “holiday” and she’s been practicing all of her Christmas words: Tree, Santa, Jingle Bells, Cookies, Presents…etc. She counts on occasion, although not always in the right order and she is getting pretty good at her ABC’s, while colors have her stumped currently (everything is “blue”). We love these two little girls so much and can’t wait to continue to watch them grow.
