Cameron Rose is such a delight the majority of the time, but we definitely have an active, independent and often times stubborn toddler on our hands. We figured it was the standard two-year-old behavior, but she seems to be a little more rambunctious than most little girls. Our pediatrician described her as “spirited” which we first were a little offended by, but realized that it shows our girl has spunk. We know that kids change all the time, so who knows what her personality will be like in a few years (or weeks for that matter – crazy kids), but for now our little munchkin has some personality! We’ve had some especially exciting and entertaining stories over the past few months that we thought needed to be documented.
Cameron is not one to sit on the sidelines – she likes to get rough and tumble and really loves to run; constantly – and she’s fast! She has a ton of scrapes and bruises from enjoying our new backyard. At our house in Mill Valley, there was a “staircase incident” where mommy went upstairs with Cameron to get the brand new baby and in the blink of an eye Cameron bolted towards the stairs and tumbled from the top to the bottom. She was okay, but mommy almost had a heart attack. Cameron cried for a few seconds then wanted to get back to playing. About a week ago, Meaghan was walking in the parking lot with Cameron and she tried to run away – Meaghan held on tight and Cameron started freaking out. Knowing something was not quite right as she is usually such a tough girl, we all ended up in the emergency room tending to Cam’s dislocated elbow. And no, CPS has not come to take us away yet! How tough is she? She’s pretty good with pain – she had that dislocated elbow for 4 hours and still managed to squeeze in a half hour nap.
Cameron has also been the star of many a show (and mortifying moments for her parents). In Palm Springs a few months back while all of the other kids were enjoying the Marilyn Monroe statue and playing on the grass, she ran away from Meaghan towards a couple taking pictures. On the ground next to them were their purses and two open Cokes. Before there was time to even attempt to react, Cam ran to the Cokes, picked them up, turned them over on top of their purses, threw them, and ran away leaving Meaghan standing there apologizing profusely to the foreign couple – mortified. Needless to say, they didn’t think our adorable little girl was cute in the slightest.
The latest performance by Cameron was at our nephew Tyler’s first communion. Nick was home with the flu, so Meaghan had the girls by herself. A little apprehensive to begin with about attending church with the small children, Meaghan attempted to stay in the back to avoid an incident. She had one hand with a death grip on Cameron and Mackenzie was strapped to her in the Baby Bjorn. Right after all of the cute little first communion kids walked down the aisle and everyone was looking towards the back of the church, Cameron made an escape and bolted right down that same aisle. She is a fast little bugger and Meaghan had to run after her down the aisle with Mackenzie flopping around. She got all the way to where the priest was standing, turned around with a big smile and raised her hands in a “ta-da” gesture. Luckily Auntie Melissa was in the front row and came to Meaghan’s rescue, whisking Cameron away from her “stage”. The congregation seemed to enjoy the entertainment, but it once again was embarrassing to be the mother in that situation.
Cameron has proven to be quite an entertainer to date and we hope she keeps up her spunkiness – and maybe improves on her listening skills 🙂 She’s a mess, but she’s our mess and we love her!

Love the stories, Meaghan. Keep them coming.
